The input supply must be able to supply the required input current to the LMZ10500 converter. The required input current depends on the application's minimum required input voltage (VIN-MIN), the required output power (VOUT × IOUT-MAX), and the converter efficiency (η).
IIN = VOUT × IOUT-MAX / (VIN-MIN × η)
For example, for a design with 5-V minimum input voltage,1.8-V output, and 0.5-A maximum load, considering 90% conversion efficiency, the required input current at steady state is 0.2 A.
