Mains Powered tools are moving away from brushed motors to brushless DC motors (BLDC)to maximize efficiency at full and partial loads, and to achieve accurate speed and torque control over wide operation range. As these motors are electronically commutated, integrated semiconductor motor driver ICs and solutions are needed to enable more efficient, durable, and quiet motor drives.
It is often required to have highly efficient active power factor correction (PFC) technology and bias AC/DC power supply, especially for heavy duty equipment.
