An HVAC system controller is an application specific controller for reading sensor inputs and controlling valve, actuator or motor outputs. System controllers are used in HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, variable air volume (VAV) boxes, or air handling units.
TI products and reference designs for HVAC system controllers demonstrate multi-channel analog input and analog output for current or voltage (e.g. 4-20 mA, 0-10 V) as well as for isolated DC-DC power supply. TI Designs demonstrates alternative ways to implement keypads apart from traditional mechanical buttons. TI Designs also show robust keypad methods. For example, capacitive buttons using MSP430 FRAM MCUs or capacitive-to-digital converter products. TI Designs also show ways to retrofit existing systems for the internet of things (IoT) through Wi-Fi bridges.
