The OPT4001DNPQ1EVM is a platform for evaluating the performance of the OPT4001-Q1, a automotive high speed, high precision, digital ambient light sensor, and can be used in various lighting conditions as well as behind various cover materials. The OPT4001DNPQ1EVM consists of two PCBs. The first is the OPTMBEVM board that contains a USB interface to communicate with a computer running a GUI evaluation software, a socket for plugging in a coupon board, and a TI MSP430 microprocessor that acts as a bridge between the PC and the device plugged into the socket. This board also provides power to the light sensor and sends and receives appropriate digital signals between the light sensor and the PC. The second board is the OPT4001-Q1 coupon board, which contains the OPT4001-Q1 and a decoupling capacitor. The coupon board plugs into the motherboard allowing quick evaluation using the TI software when plugged in and allows the coupon to be removed for direct access to the device pins for evaluation in your system.
