Eligible organizations
We earmark our highest levels of philanthropic investment for education, followed by human services, racial equity and arts. We believe these are all critical to a thriving and fair community where people of diverse backgrounds and cultures want to live and work. We assess and measure all investments for effective results, and apply a lens of racial equity to ensure that the programs we fund are fair and inclusive.
The majority of our grants are made by invitation. Unsolicited proposals generally are not considered.
Supported
- Public agencies and nonprofit organizations with tax-exempt status and under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or as an instrumentality of a federal, state or local government as provided by Section 170(c)1 of the Code or the equivalent.
- Organizations must be based in one of our major site communities or provide services within those regions.
Not supported
- Courtesy advertising, including program books and yearbooks
- Fraternal or labor organizations
- Grants to individuals, including scholarships
- Hospitals, clinics, medical facilities
- Grants to individual schools or robotics teams (except robotics teams that have TI employee/retiree volunteers)
- Organizations focused on a particular medical condition (e.g., cancer, heart disease, diabetes)
- Organizations that discriminate based on race, color, religion, creed, disability, genetic information, national origin, gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, marital status or veteran status
- Political activities, parties or candidates
- Private foundations or endowment funds
- Sectarian or denominational religious organizations
- Sporting events or teams, including golf tournaments
- Conventions or entertainment events
- Travel or tours
- Unrestricted gifts to national or international organizations
