It is also possible to generate this negative voltage by simply reconfiguring a DC/DC buck power module that you have used in other designs. How to turn your buck module into an inverting module

Almost any ordinary DC/DC buck module can be turned into an inverting buck-boost (IBB) with a few simple changes. The red capacitor and grounds in the schematic show the new connections that are required to transform a buck into an IBB.  The buck output becomes the system ground and the original buck ground becomes the negative output.
