10BASE-T1L single-pair Ethernet sensor with power over data lines reference design

TIDA-010261

Design files

Overview

This reference design shows an implementation of a single-pair Ethernet (SPE) communication back end including power over data lines (PoDL). The design uses a Sitara™ AM2434 MCU interfacing an analog front end on one side and a Ethernet physical (PHY) layer on the other. The powerful MCU allows not only forwarding sensor data to the Ethernet, but also for performing data processing on the edge.

Features
  • 10BASE-T1L single-pair Ethernet
  • PoDL power delivery (PD), Type E, Class 12, compliant to 802.3cg including serial communication classification protocol (SCCP)
  • Auxiliary 24-V supply
  • AM2434 MCU with quad-core Arm® Cortex®-R5F and programmable real-time unit (PRU)
  • PHI and BoosterPack™ plug-in module to connect to existing modules
  • Optimized for evaluation and debugging
